Samsung introduces the Galaxy XR Virtual Reality Headset

On October 21, 2025, Samsung introduced its virtual reality headset, the Galaxy XR, a device poised to change the way consumers interact with the immersive spaces.

On its official blog, Samsung says that the “Galaxy XR expands the vision for mobile AI into a new frontier of immersive and meaningful possibilities, allowing XR to move from concept to everyday reality, for both the industry and users.”

The Galaxy XR is built in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm Technologies to deliver an AI-centric, yet highly-responsive product.Users can access as many Android apps on the device, which demonstrates the company’s focus on making it an easy tool for day-to-day usability.

Driving the headset is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip, while Gemini is the device’s choice of an AI-assistant, all in a bid to deliver extraordinary user-experience.

Here is a highlight of a few features delivered by the Galaxy XR

  • Travel and Search with Google Maps : Navigating Google maps is made easier as Gemini guides users to through personalized suggestions. Users’ queries are delivered through 3D maps.
  • Streaming in 4K : Through the Micro-OLED screen, users are able to screen their favourite show, offering a highly-personalized interaction that feels like a personal theater.
  • Gaming Experience enhanced by AI  : Imagine the experience of playing specialized XR games while chatting with Gemini to get rea-time coaching.

Samsung says the Galaxy XR is meant to deliver “familiar mobile experiences they already love and making the device as useful day-to-day as it is groundbreaking.”

Samsung and Google paused their respective virtual reality headset projects nearly five years ago, but this new collaboration comes at a time when the world has shifted focus on everything that is AI-driven.

The Galaxy VR joins a race that some analysts claim is yet to attract or make a significant reap in the market. However the pricing gives a bit of relieve, given that competitors such as Apple’s $3,500 Vision Pro headset has attracted significant criticism for failing to rise to expectations.
